The racecourse of Châtelaillon : we run at full gallop

Horse racing in Chatelaillon is an institution. As early as 1928, the first races took place. And today, it is on a brand new racecourse, the most prized in the Atlantic arc, that the greatest drivers meet for harness races.
And then, it has a small unique specificity in France: it is roped on the left; it means that the horses run in the opposite direction what favors some of them.

An accessible racetrack

Located at the entrance of the city, in the district that bears its name, you can come by car, it’s the easiest way, and you can park on the public parking behind the racecourse.

Contemporary architecture and protected environment

The current racecourse was completely rebuilt in 2013 by an architect specializing in this type of building. Admire the profile of its architecture, the combination of wood, concrete and metal that give all its panache to this racecourse. Turn around and admire the space of the stables, all in wood, in the shape of an ellipse, a unique configuration in France.

And what makes the beauty of the place, it is the natural space on which it is established. This zone classified Natura 2000 abounds in protected fauna and flora which make this place, a peaceful and green place.

On your marks, get set? run

Stop by the betting hall to try your luck and sit in the 400-seat covered grandstand to watch the harnessed trotters practice before the start. Spot the horse you bet on. It’s the yellow Cossack. Follow it with your eyes and wait patiently for the start.

If you want to get some height, go upstairs on the beautiful terrace and bring your binoculars. You’ll have a front row seat to see your foal win.
